Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Needs Assessment

Supporting Information

This report provides an updated assessment of the characteristics and needs, and the likely numbers (prevalence) of children and young people vulnerable to mental health problems within the county. It maps the array of services currently offered to children, young people and their parents and carers to address these needs.

The focus is all tiers of service from universal provision to Tier 4 specialist provision, looking in depth particularly at targeted and specialist CAMHS and the interfaces between services. Specific areas of inquiry included the following: an overview of the epidemiological need in East Sussex, service provision across comprehensive CAMHS, and a particular focus on a range of groups of children and young people thought to be vulnerable or at ‘high risk’ of mental health problems. The needs assessment has been developed to inform joint commissioning arrangements.
